Lymington need their top order batsmen to start making an impact at the crease if they are to improve their low West Division standing in the Southern Premier League Cup.
With only one win (at Andover) and three defeats from four matches, Lymington’s youthful side lies second from the bottom of the nine-club group.
Left-hander Terry Crabb (132 runs) is the only player to have made a fifty so far and only he and Ryan Scott (123) have clocked up over one hundred competition runs so far.
Lymington got themselves into a strong batting position at 95-2 against Bournemouth last week, but only Cameron Robertson (41), coming in at seven, made over 35. Bournemouth, chasing 187-7, went on to nick a thrilling two-wicket last over win.
With St Cross Symondians rotating players, Lymington have little idea who they will come up against at the Green Jackets ground tomorrow, where Ed Freeman returns to add experience to the attack.
Lymington: Royan, D Bailey, J Bailey, Schreuder, Scott, Crabb, Freeman, Sykes, Tollerfield, McCurdy, Robertson.
With two wins and a tie from six completed matches, Calmore Sports are pleased with the way their short Premier League Cup season has developed.
They play their final group match when Andover visit Loperwood Park, with skipper Mark Lavelle reflecting: “It’s been a good exercise for us playing against Premier Division sides.”
Calmore have taken heavy beatings from Bashley (Rydal) and South Wilts in the past fortnight, but make five changes against the Lions, with the return of Will Brewster, James Hibberd, James Manning and Ben Perry adding strength to the batting and bowling departments.
Teenage all-rounder Ben Fisher is at Fenners playing in the Oxford-Cambridge Varsity Match, but Shawn Johnson is set to make a long awaited Calmore debut following his arrival from Bexhill, where scored over 5,500 runs for the Sussex League Division 3 East club.
Johnson hit one century and made five scores of fifty or more in his 679-run aggregate for Bexhill, who finished runners-up in SL3 East last season.
Calmore Sports: Brewster, Johns, Bailey, Johnson, Hibberd, Manning, Taylor, Lavelle, Perry, Wright, Lepervanche.
Totton & Eling are without a match tomorrow.
