
Longparish based Billy Mead is celebrating his maiden century in first class cricket, having made an unbeaten 106 for Kent against the touring Srl Lanka Development Xi at Canterbury.
A prolific run scorer in his schooldays at Marlborough College, Mead played his early club cricket at Longparish before moving to St Cross Symondians.
He is currently playing for Datchet in the ECB Home Counties Premier League and made a recent century against Waterlooville in the ECB Royal London Cup.
Mead hit a six and eight boundaries in his 106 as Kent totalled a massive 595-8.
The Sri Lankans, who play Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl this week, replied with 698-9 declared, Mead taking one catch behind the stumps.
The match, which produced 1,493 runs for 18 wickets, closed with Kent 200-1 in their second innings.
