Tom Scriven hit a maiden ECB Southern Premier League century, hauling the Hampshire Academy out of the mire with a superb 121 before helping skittle hosts Lymington for a paltry 49, their lowest SPL score.
Opening pair Felix Organ and George Metzger, along with Josh Wood, were all back in the Sports Ground pavilion with only four runs on the board as Matt Metcalfe (2-43) and Simon Beetham (1-15) struck a triple new ball blow.
But that was as good as it got for Lymington as Scriven (pictured) and Fletcha Middleton (31) gradually repaired the damage and before lunch had put together a match-changing 109 fourth-wicket partnership.
Any prospect Lymington had of wresting the initiative back was thwarted by a post-break stand between Scott Currie (32) and Scriven, who celebrated his hundred before Dimitri Adams (2-78) took the fifth wicket.
Scriven, who played for England in this past winter’s ICC Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand, looks to have ‘time’ to play his shots, and went on to hit two sixes and 11 fours, sharing another fruitful partnership with Tom Prest (31) as the Academy moved their total on to 237-7.
Lymington’s batting fell apart at the seams, Currie (3-14) taking three of the first four wickets for only 16 runs inside the opening six overs of their reply.
Dom Hand and Adams managed to get into double figures before each fell to Scriven (2-13).
Lymington lost their last six wickets for only 12 runs, Wellington College seamer Ajeet Dale ripping through the tail with a hat-trick to finish with 4-17.
