Matt Journeaux bade his Sarisbury Athletic farewells on a winning note – the 50-run victory knocking Hook & Newnham out of the Division One promotion frame.
He flew to Dubai today to begin a two-year teaching appointment and hands the captain’s armband to Ricky Rawlins.
Journeaux, who made top score of 35 in Sarisbury’s 195 (Anik Divecha 3-39), leaves the side in a comfortable fourth place and threatening Calmore Sports' leadership at Loperwood Park this Saturday.
He featured in a sturdy top-order batting performance which saw Sam Floyd (32), Chris Sole (33) and Rawlins (21) steer Sarisbury to a match winning total.
Ben Thane took 3-31 for Hook and then made 46, but any prospects of an away win were blown away by Shayne Freemantle (3-17), who made three new-ball strikes.
Rawlins took 3-22 as Hook fell away to 145 all out.
The end is pretty near nigh for Tichborne Park, who dropped deeper into the relegation mire after an 85-run defeat by Liphook & Ripsley.
Suman Ganguly (77) top scored as Liphook posted 215-7 – a total Tichborne seldom threatened with 130 all out (George Ayling 31).
