Hampshire 50s star Darren McBride played the pivotal role as Hartley Wintney chased down Hook & Newnham Basics’ 285-5 to win by two wickets with nine balls to spare.
Playing his first Southern Premier League match since May 2019, McBride (left) hit 72 as Hartley completed the double over their near neighbours to remain fourth in the log.
Opening the batting, he hit two sixes and nine fours, losing five partners before handing the baton to Tommy Kirkpatrick (64) and Jamie Teale (30) to complete the run chase.
Earlier, Matt Love (53) and Sam Bruin (44) provided Hook with an 82-run start, which Danny Nightingale (3-50) interrupted to send the visitors slipping to 136-5.
A sixth-wicket century stand between Liam Doran (63) and Joe Allnutt (56) lifted Hook on to 285-8.
