Hampshire all-rounder Ian Holland enjoyed the bragging rights but not the victory smiles when his Ringwood side met Lewis McManus’s Camberwell Magpies in the Victoria Premiership.
Holland was run out for one in the second over of Ringwood’s disappointing 189 – a total which the Magpies passed five down, despite Holland trapping a crestfallen McManus leg before wicket for three.
St Cross Symondians all-rounder Jack Bransgrove is enjoying a second winter in Melbourne, where he previously played in his 2013 pre-university gap year.
He plays in the same Brighton sub-district side as Calmore Sports’ left-hander Ben Johns and, so far, has taken seven wickets in three games in addition to hitting 148 runs (including a first up 75), with a fair sprinkling of sixes !
Johns, meanwhile, has been starved of much batting opportunity in recent weeks, but has 263 runs to his name, including two 75-plus scores which earned him a first team place.
Across the city, South Wilts pair Luke Evans and Ben Draper had a day to forget as Parkdale crashed to a heavy defeat against Hampton.
Batting nine, New Milton teen Raff Hussey is getting little opportunity to build any sort of innings in the South Australia Second Grade with Port Adelaide – but he’s certainly developing as a bowler !
Hussey seldom bowls for the Green & Golds back home, but in his last two games in Adelaide he’s taken 3-19 in a 16-over stint against Northern Districts and followed it up with an impressive 1-23 return off ten overs v Glenelg. Hussey is spending the winter at the Darren Lehmann Academy prior to taking up an offer to study at Loughborough.
