Southampton Solent’s cricketing students are the drama kings of the British Universities Cricket Championships after pulling off a third successive last gasp win.
Punching above their weight in a competition populated by MCCU sides, Solent kick started their programme with a last over win at Cardiff (193 all out) when Will Steward launched a late six to grab a one-wicket win.
Then Rob Walters hit 120 as Solent pulled off a dramatic two-wicket win over Exeter – with just two balls to spare.
The third BUCS match against Durham at Southern Gardens produced even more excitement with Solent overhauling the visitors 265 (Foley 4-53) by one wicket with four balls to spare.
Walters (65), Will Steward (44) and Michael Porter (41) top scored but Solent slipped to 148-5 and later 2512-9 before Burridge new boy Brighton Mugochi got the last gasp winning runs – just as he did in the previous match against Exeter.
