South Wilts suffered another double dose of the winter blues, losing their latest two matches in the NatWest Under-16 Indoor Cricket League at the Ageas Bowl.
Last summer’s beaten ECB Under-15 Championship finalists lost to the Isle of Wight and the Hampshire EPP – the island youngsters celebrating their first win in three outings. South Wilts have lost four of their opening five games.
A half-century by Joe Newnham (57), supported by Dan Cox (33) and John Buckman (25), pointed the IWCB to a highest-ever 181-4 against the Bemerton youngsters, who conceded 47 wides.
But it was the county EPP who emerged with back-to-back wins, comfortably beating their two rivals.
Alex Willoughby, who was run out without facing in his debut, made unbeaten scores of 47 and 26 in the EPP wins.
