There will be a new look to this season’s Finch Group Guy Jewell Cup matches at Basingstoke’s May’s Bounty headquarters, with a two-tier competition climaxing with a Finals Day on bank holiday Sunday August 26 2018.
One competition will be the Finch Group Guy Jewell Cup (tier 1) and the other will be the Finch Group Cyril Thompson Trophy (Tier 2).
Eight teams, the current five seeded sides along with East Woodhay, Old Basing and Odiham & Greywell, will be in Tier 1 and the remaining sides will be in Tier 2.
The composition of each tier has been made on the basis of the standard of league cricket played by each club on a Saturday along with previous performances in the FGGJC.
Each competition will be run on a knockout basis as is the case currently, but there will be no separate Plate competition and ALL matches will be played at BNHCC, though some may be played on the adjoining Castle Field.
Finch Group Guy Jewell Cup 1st round: Rotherfield Park v Yateley, Hartley Wintney v Basingstoke & North Hants, Hook & Newnham Basics “A” v East Woodhay, Odiham & Greywell v Old Basing.
Finch Group Cyril Thompson Cup 1st round: Rotherwick ITW v Whitchurch, Stratfield Turgis v Oakley, Ramsdell v Hook & Newnham Basics “B”, Andover v Binsted, Overton (Holders) v Kingsclere, St Mary’s v Herriard, Basingstoke Hockey v Ashford Hill, AWE Tadley v Chawton.
