A 155-run second wicket stand between Ben Walker and Alex Turner set up the 113-run victory for Bashey (Rydal) over near neighbours New Milton which gives them a four-point lead over Bournemouth at the top of the Southern Premier League Cup West group.
But the three-cornered scrap to decide which team qualifies for the League Cup Grand Final on September 19 is set to go to the wire. Bashley’s last two matches are at third placed South Wilts (Saturday) and against Bournemouth seven days later.
Tom Jacques (17) set a brisk early pattern for Bashley before nicking one (at 26-1) to stand-in Milton gloveman Ryan Beck off George Watts (2-40).
That proved to be the Green & Golds last success for a long while as Turner (66), with his fifth Bashley first’s half-century, and Walker batted them out of the game.
The pair took Bashley to 181 with Walker (11 fours) already well on his way to an eventual 89 and Porter poised to blitz a six and five fours in an explosive 30.
Harry Fisher (22) and Josh Digby (21) chipped in as Bashley eased to 273-6.
Beck (32) progressed Milton’s reply to 37-1 before a three-wicket burst by Brad Currie (5-22) wrecked their top order.
Watts, New Milton’s five-wicket hero in the previous week’s victory over Lymington, underlined his growing potential as an all-rounder with 57 which held the middle-order together from 65-6.
Dan Loader (24) and Alex Mills (19), with two spectacular sixes, supported Watts before his side were dismissed for 160.
