NEW Milton all-rounder and former captain Ryan Beck has completed a full marathon from his own garden.
Beck, who has been entertaining people in lockdown with viral cricket videos in an effort to keep kids active during the Covid-19 pandemic, has raised over £500 for NHS charities from the running challenge.
Beck said that he originally planned to do it over two days but was spurred on to complete over 500 laps of a 77-metre course he laid out in just one day:
“I sat down on Friday and thought what to do for the cricket virus on Saturday. I heard it was supposed to be London marathon on Sunday so I went for that. If I’m honest, I thought maybe do it over two days.”
“The inspiration behind it all has got to be all the support I’ve had through the 36 days of cricket virus prior to the marathon.
"My fiancee Hayley set up the fundraiser to show me that people are behind me. Thanks for all the amazing donations and amazing support.”
All the money raised will go to NHS charities after Ryan’s 50th daily cricket video and to donate visit www.gofundme.com/f/ryans-cricket-virus-raise-for-help
