Leg spinner Danny Foy celebrated a maiden five-wicket haul as Andover gave their hopes of Premier Division survival a boost with a 72-run win over New Milton at Fernhill.
The former Sparsholt cricketer ran amok as the Green & Golds capitulated, losing their last eight wickets for 33 runs.
They were all out for 101 after Army left-hander Storm Green, with a patient 62 – he was dismissed at 137-7 - and Sri Lankan Chamika Karunaratne (50) had underpinned Andover’s 173 (Dan Loader 4-26).
New Milton soon lost overseas opener Dave Wakefield – the first of three wickets for the lively Karunaratne (3-33) – but progressed steadily to 83-2 through Tom Arnold (26) and Oli Shrubsole (27).
But the innings fell to bits once Matt Hooper trapped Shrubsole leg before.
Foy grabbed his chance with glee, ripping out five of the next seven batsmen as the innings tumbled to 101 all out.
Promoted as Division 1 winners last season, Andover remain bottom of the table, but the deficit between themselves and the Hampshire Academy has been cut to 22 points.
