Campbell Golding struck his maiden Southern Premier League century as New Milton pulled off a surprise four-wicket win at the Norman Edwards Ground, denting Sparsholt's prospects of a potential runners-up finish in Division 1.
The former Highcliffe School student, who is no mean beach volley ball player, struck 110 as the Green & Golds successfully chased down Sparsholt's 212 with six overs to spare.
Arriving at the crease with only two runs on the board, 18-year old Golding struck three sixes and 13 fours before being bowled by Jeremy Frith at 183-6, after which Dan Loader (23) and Ryan Beck tidied things up.
Earlier, Sparsholt relied heavily on Sam O'Brien (77) and David Banks (70) for pulling them away from an uncertain 56-3.
But from a threatening 184-4 they dropped to 212 all out - six wickets falling for 28 runs - against George Watts (3-35) and Lee Beck (3-38). It was a modest total Sparsholt found unable to defend.
