Former Hampshire all-rounder Lawrie Prittipaul is handing out some rough treatment to bowlers in the remote environs of Hampshire League Regional Division 2 South.
Playing for Portsmouth-based Servicemaster, he hit 203 against Old Netley & Highfield 3rd XI last month.
And followed it up with a devastating 244 against Steep’s seconds this weekend – a double century which included six sixes off an over !
Prittipaul, 35, who made 98 first team appearances during his five seasons on the Hampshire staff, is enjoying himself, playing with his father Roly and his pals in the tenth rung on the county’s recreational cricket pyramid.
Ironically, father Roly got a duck at Steep – but was able to watch his son cause six-hit mayhem as the village bowlers were hit for an enormous 444-5 in 42 overs.
Prittipaul hit 22 maximums altogether, plus 15 fours –his 244 coming after being dropped when he had made only eight !
“One of our blokes dropped an absolute sitter, so it’s our own fault really,” reflected Steep second team captain Ed Ellis, who didn’t enjoy the best of days.
“It was a very long afternoon, especially as I got run out for 0 - without facing a ball!
“It was nice to see a player of that quality up close but the novelty wore off after he made 200.
“Having said that, Lawrie seemed like a nice bloke. He was run out in the end and perhaps didn't try his hardest to make his ground, though it was a direct hit.”
Servicemaster, who were Regional 3 South champions last season, went on to win by 241 runs – but they didn’t get maximum points, Steep closing at 203-7.
With Solent Rangers top by some distance, Prittipaul and pals might have to settle for third place in the league.
