Sarisbury Athletic slipped into the Southern Premier League Division One's bottom two after a seven-wicket spanking by Sparsholt at Allotment Road.
Josh Hill continued his fine run of form with the bat since taking over the Athletic captaincy from Ricky Rawlins.
After hitting 45 not out and 69 not out in his first two games as skipper, Hill again top scored with 42 (his seasonal SPL average is now 61.00) as Sarisbury were restricted to 142-8 (Elliott Smith 29), with Rob Franklin (32 not out) keeping the as the hosts crashed from 90-2 to 94-6.
Dan Sumner is beginning to make his mark at Sparsholt following his pre-season move from Oakley, where he played a major role in the Basingstoke club’s 2019 Hampshire League promotion drive, hitting over 430 runs and taking 31 wickets.
Opening the batting, he hit an unbeaten 58 and shared a match defining 74-run stand with Liam Doran (46) as Sparsholt raced past Sarisbury’s score with ten overs to spare.
Sumner, who made a half-century against New Milton last month, earlier bowled a tidy spell of 2-22, though the ever improving Josh Banks-Williams produced the best figures of 3-30, including both Sarisbury openers.

Early season high fliers Rowledge suffered their second untimely hand injury in recent matches when opening batsman Jonty Seeborn broke his finger during his side’s 90-run defeat by Southern Premier Division 1 rivals St Cross Symondians II at Church Road.
Seeborn injured his finger in the field and was unable to bat – he normally opens – as Rowledge plunged to an SPL low 58 all out.
All-rounder Jake Wish is already sidelined with split finger webbing.
St Cross had earlier made steady progress towards making 148-9, wicketkeeper Andy Hyland’s unbeaten 33 being the highest score of the match and complementing the graft by openers Jason Laney (23) and Ben Foster (22) and a quick fire 22 from Dylan Clarke.
Teenage trio Ryan Littlewood (3-49), Oli Baker and Ethan Martin caught the eye with the ball for Rowledge, after the evergreen David Lloyd (2-26) removed Laney and Foster.
A handful of bowling bonus points was all Rowledge could muster, Dave Orchard (3-6) ripping out the middle-order.
