Ten clubs in North Hampshire and just across the Berkshire county boundary have linked up to create the Vector Cup – the competition the brainchild of Oakley’s Alex Brundle and so named as a ‘tribute’ to Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who description of a cricket ball in Parliament last month as a “natural vector of disease” almost turned any lingering hopes of a return of the game into despair.
With four of the clubs entering second teams, organisers have been able to a six-team first division, with eight in Division 2.
Saturday’s fixtures –
Division 1: Ashford Hill v Oakley, East Woodhay v Wherwell, Overton v Odiham & Greywell.
Division 2: Donnington v East Woodhay II, Oakley II v Kingsclere, St Mary’s v Whitchurch, Odiham & Greywell II v Overton II.
