Brothers Stuart [pictured] and Gareth Ransley shared a century fourth-wicket stand as improving Havant seconds kept up an early-season Southern Premier League Division 3 promotion push with a 127-run win over stumbling Gosport Borough at Privett Park.
Stuart (64) and Gareth (41) were their side’s top scorers, sharing a 117-run stand - Stuart hitting five fours and three sixes in his 71-ball stay at the crease as Havant posted 234 (Lee Harrop 3-24) .
There was also a later 54-run stand for the ninth wicket between Wayne Turner (33) and tailender Tyler Bradley (21).
Jacob Harris (3-49) had taken two early wickets as the visitors slipped to 39-3, but that was as good as it got for Gosport, who lost all four matches in June having sprung from the traps with three straight wins.
Harrop lasted just three balls at the start of Borough's reply - Ali Gardner having him caught by Gareth Ransley. Aussie Ollie Lunt (24) top scored as the hosts dipped from 32-1 to 53-5. Then, after recovering to 84-5, Boro lost four more wickets for 13 runs.
Teen spin prospect Matty Hayward (3-18) ran through the tail as Boro were shot out for 107, to lose by 127 runs. Havant have now won five of their last six games after lifting the curtain on their 2023 league campaign by being routed (with a very weakened side) for just 41 by Parley.
Henry Smith and Tom Bolan hit half-centuries as South Wilts seconds consolidated their mid-table Division 3 standing with a comfortable 45-run win over their struggling Bashley (Rydal) counterparts at Bemerton.
Smith made 60 and Bolam 58, the pair sharing a useful third-wicket stand as South Wilts, with the aid of a handy 34 not out from Will Welch late on, totalled 225-9. Simon Morris (53) responded as Bashley made 180 in reply, Smith completing a fine day with a 3-18 return with the ball.
