Hampshire Under-17s produced a remarkable second day comeback to force a draw with Devon in an ECB County Championship match at Totton & Eling, which produced almost 900 runs.
Devon posted a mammoth 451-7, with Exmouth talent Dan Pyle scoring 241.
Hampshire looked to be headed for defeat at 122-5, but centuries by Felix Organ (121), pictured, and Harry Hovey (123 not out), aided by Ben Caldera (54) and Tom Scriven (48), enabled them to finish just four runs shy of the Devon total at 445-7.
Hampshire beat their West Country rivals by four runs in the previous day's 50-over Cup tie. Jake Goodwin made 89 of Hampshire's 217, while Ben Caldera and Josh McCoy shared six wickets as Devon fell marginally short at 213, Mike Brogan heart beating too fast for his own liking as the match reached its climax.
Having beaten Gloucestershire in their opening match, Hampshire are the early pace setters in the five-county group with next week’s Championship and Cup matches with Somerset in Taunton likely to be crucial in their bid to qualify for the national phase of the competition.
