Parley need to cash in on an unexpected home ground advantage when they host former Lord’s winners Goatacre in a rearranged Davidstow National Village Cup regional final at Christchurch Road, West Parley, tomorrow [Sunday], 1pm.
They were originally drawn away to the mid-table West of England Premier League Division 1 club in the Dorset/Wiltshire final, but when last Sunday’s tie was washed out, competition rules meant a change of venue in Parley’s favour.
Parley are unbeaten and riding along nicely at the top of Hampshire League County Division 3 South, but play six rungs below Goatacre on the recreational cricket pyramid, so remain underdogs.
If Parley manage to avenge last season’s county final defeat by Goatacre, they will visit either North Perrott or Timsbury in the initial national round on June 25.
Parley: A Nippard, S Collins, J Rowett, O Morris, O Green, R.Embalagama, O Thomas, G Wilson, C Jennings, J Nicholls, T Blackley.
Rowledge visit Frensham for their Surrey group final tomorrow, with a trip to Kent winners Linton Park awaiting the victors.
Hambledon are already through to the last 32 and will host past champions Shipton-Under-Wychwood, from Oxfordshire, at Ridge Meadow next Sunday.
The Dons edged out Tichborne Park by two runs in a county final thriller, with George Marshall cracking a superb 142.
