
Paultons, relegated from Southern Premier Division 2 last season, have swooped to sign Callum Barton, a promising young all-rounder from the New South Wales district club Sutherland, based in Sydney.
Opening the batting, Barton hit 54 as Sutherland suffered a heart-breaking five-run defeat in this winter's Second Grade Grand Final against Mosman at the Allan Border Oval.
He scored close on 300 Second Grade runs in the powerful NSW Premierships, making three First Grade appearance either side of Christmas. He also bowls medium-pace and celebrated four and five-wicket returns last November.
Barton will make his competitive debut against Basingstoke & North Hants at Whitemoor Lane next Saturday, having made an unbeaten 50 in a friendly against Bramshaw last weekend.
