The Southern Electric Premier League has dished out its first Cricketer of the Month awards, with Hampshire Academy left-hander Ben Duggan, Andover all-rounder Dave Taylor, Langley Manor skipper Craig Renders, and 16-year old South Wilts prospect William Wade collecting their cut glass awards.
Duggan, 17, a first year Academy scholar hit back-to-back centuries against Burridge and Alton, his hundred at Botley Road being a match winner. He has continued his good form and is currently the leading ‘home grown’ Premier Division batsman, with 395 runs, writes Mike Vimpany.
Andover all-rounder Dave Taylor’s run strewn summer – he has so far made 617 including three centuries – culminated in him receiving the Division 1 award. In May, Taylor hit an astonishing 172 not out to win the match at Liphook & Ripsley single handed and also made 115 in a losing cause against leaders Hook & Newnham Basics. He has subsequently scored 105 at Bournemouth and 91 against Calmore Sports.
