Popular local panel umpire Chris Reid has retired after officiating the final ECB Southern Electric Premier Division second place decider between Bashley (Rydal) and Havant at the BCG, which was ultimately washed out in mid-afternoon.
Bristolian Reid has been umpiring locally for the past 15 years and has been a leading member of the South Coast Panel.
He spent his earlier playing career with Shirehampton before moving to the New Forest in 1992, when he joined Bashley.
“It’s all been very enjoyable,” Chris said. “I’ve umpired in Australia and stood in a couple of Southern Electric twenty20 finals, but above all have formed countless long lasting freiendships.
“Aches and pains have led me to call it a day, but I’ll be watching every week."
