Sarisbury Athletic could be struggling to hold on to second place in Division One as the five-match August run-in approaches. A second consecutive defeat by 17 runs to fast rising Portsmouth at Allotment Road has enabled the city club to inch to within 14 points of Ricky Rawlins side. Chasing Portsmouth’s 193 (Jack Marston 51), Sarisbury lost their first three wickets for 40, but got themselves into a potentially winning position while Josh Hill (61) and Tom Nightingale (58) were together. But from 133-3 – and within 61 runs of victory – Sarisbury fell to bits, losing their last seven wickets for 43 runs to 176 all out. Reuben McArdle (4-18) and Fraser Hay (3-27) did the damage. |
