Ricky Rawlins has stepped down as Sarisbury Athletic captain ahead of the Southern Premier Division 1 meeting with Basingstoke & North Hants at Allotment Road, 1230.
He hands over the captain’s armband to Josh Hill, having led Sarisbury from the front since July 2017 when Matt Journeaux took up a teaching appointment in the Emirates.
Alongside Hill and the golf-bugged Sam Floyd, Rawlins has been Sarisbury’s lead player for several seasons, taking the club to within one win of Lord’s in the Village Cup.
Rawlins will now concentrate on his key role as opening batsman as Sarisbury Athletic bid to halt a three-match long run and haul themselves off bottom spot against equally winless Basingstoke, who have lost their first two games.
Sarisbury Athletic: J Hill, Floyd, Lovett, Bolton, Wright, Sanders, Franklin, Bradley, Orr, S Hill, Jewell.
Leading points scorers Totton & Eling (66) face a stern test at Rowledge, whose own unbeaten start ended in a dramatic last over finish at Calmore Sports last week.
It will be another stern test for the young Rowledge side, spin all-rounder Oli Baker and 15-yerar old Ethan Martin having caught the eye last weekend.
Rowledge: Ben Wish, Jake Wish, David Lloyd, Jonty Sebborn, Ethan Martin, Ryan Littlewood, Olly Ryman, Zac Le Reux, Ollie Baker, Ricky Yates, Hamish Watson.
County Village Cup finalists Calmore Sports travel to London Road to face Andover with a full strength side aiming for a third straight win.
Andover: Treagus, Taylor, Knight, Carr, Duckworth, Ayers, Hooper, Birks, Smith, Adams, Veettil.
Calmore Sports: Lavelle, Bailey, Johns, Brewster, Taylor, Manning, Johnson, Perry, West, Fisher, Wright.
Embryo leaders New Milton have pocketed a full 44 points from their two wins over Sarisbury Athletic and Andover, so no surprise skipper George Watts leads an unchanged side for a testing visit to Sparsholt, who are without Callum Doran.
Sparsholt: D Banks, D Sumner, S Taylor, A Collison, L Doran, J May, J Banks-Williams, G Whiting, T Ley, L Mitchard, D Weir.
New Milton: Watts, Edwards, Hall, Greig, L Beck, Golding, Bartlett, Loader, Mills, Humphrey, Hussey.
Portsmouth, who broke their duck by beating Basingstoke & North Hants last week, host St Cross Symondians II.

Portsmouth, who broke their duck by beating Basingstoke & North Hants last week, host St Cross Symondians II.
Sam Pittman’s staggering and unblemished record of not having missed a South Wilts match in 15 years has come to an end.
The Bemerton second team gloveman injured a hamstring in last week’s defeat at Liphook & Ripsley, so is forced to sit out the Southern Premier Division 2 duel with Waterlooville at Wilton Road, 1230.
George Edwards will be behind the sticks for South Wilts, who have Raff Hussey returning from a knee injury and are bolstered by the presence of South Newton tractor boy Ben Huntley.
South Wilts II: Cranch, Litchfield, Hussey, Edwards, Pearce, R Pittman, Huntley, Falconer, Partridge, Atkinson, Brewer.
Waterlooville: Archie Reynolds, Alex Shephard, Namish Verma, Sonny Reynolds, Jon Hudson, Dan Birch, Tim Jackson, Sam Robinson, Ashan Silva, Harry McBride, Haydn Knight
Hartley Wintney, who top Premier 2 with 42 points from their initial two victories, embark on the SPL’s longest trip when they leave their home close to the Berkshire county boundary to travel to Ventnor deep down on the Isle of Wight’s south-east coast.
“Going to Portugal might be quicker,” quipped one wag as HW set their alarms to be up and on the road long before the milkman delivers Roy Cockram’s gold top.
Ventnor beat Bashley (Rydal) in their last home match largely thanks to West Indian Anthony Alleyne, but came a cropper at Old Tauntonians & Romsey last weekend. Chris Russell returns.
Ventnor: B.Woodhouse, R.Whyte, A.Alleyne, C.Russell, Z.Wells, R.Snell, M.Fletcher, G.Legg, M.Blackman, C.Calloway, S.Read.
Leading points scorers OTs & Romsey visit so far winless Bashley (Rydal) II, Fair Oak host Liphook & Ripsley, and Paultons make the short trip down the A36 to play Fawley full of optimism after beating Oaks.
Paultons: Simon Ennew, Cameron Grierson, Lee Wateridge, Ben Rogers, Nathan Feltham, Robert Pike, Scott Dawes, Christopher Ray, Archie Dunn, Chris Dunn, Andrew Denney.
Something must give in Premier 3’s match of the day at May’s Bounty, where Basingstoke & North Hants and Hook & Newnham Basics’ second sides put their unbeaten starts on the line.
Hook field a youthful looking side, but it won’t be short on pace with left-armer Liam Shore and Max Simpson sharing the new ball – Simpson having taken three wickets for the Hampshire Academy in yesterday’s Under-18 T20 win against Somerset.
Hook II: Light, Bruin, Warner, Balcombe, May O, Shore, Gardner, May T, Neville, James, Simpson.
Top dogs Hambledon field an unchanged side against Trojans, who surprised Portsmouth & Southsea last weekend.
Hambledon: Spencer Leclercq, Dan McGovern, Henry Glanfield, George Marshall, Chris Pratt, James Marshall, Mark Butcher, Jonty Oliver, James Restall, George Harding, Shahryar Khan.
