Fourteen-year old Edward, the youngest of the Wade cricketing family, will create a spot of local folklore when he debuts for South Wilts’ seconds in the Southern Premier League Division 3 match against Bashley (Rydal) II at Bemerton, 12.30.
It will mean all four members of the Wade clan will have played SPL cricket for the Salisbury club – father Rob being a past captain, eldest son William currently in the firsts, with Edward joining James as a second teamer.
“It may be a first in Premier League cricket,” smiled Rob Wade, who is still heavily involved in the club’s youth set up.
The junior-most Wade (picture left by Roy Honeybone), a prolific run scorer in Wiltshire county age group cricket, is listed to bat at three.
Both sides open their opening matches – South Wilts at newly promoted Portsmouth & Southsea and Bashley against Fawley.
South Wilts II: Phillips, Berzins, E Wade, R Pittman, Pearce, Lloyd, S Pittman, Booth, Marc Burton, Fisher, Ghauri.
