Paul Marks returned to haunt his old Fawley team-mates with an unbeaten half-century which earned Hursley Park their first British Gas Southern League Division 3 win of the season.
He hit 56 not out as Hursley successfully chased down Fawley’s 193-8 to win by four wickets at The Quarters.
Marks, pictured left, shared a 73-run partnership with teenager Luke Deacon (43) but needed a helping hand from Tom Flynn (30) to get Hursley across the line.
Skipper Callum Earl (47) top scored for Fawley, with Tom James (3-44) and Oli Green (3-47) sharing six of the oilmen’s eight wickets.
Asad Abbas smacked a run-a-ball 69, including two sixes and five fours, as Fair Oak wrested the initiative away from visiting Purbrook at Lapstone Park. Oaks had reached an uncertain 72-4 (Ed Kemp 27) when Rufus Bullough (26) arrived at the crease, but Purbrook really had the game taken away from them when Abbas and Rhys Oxley (35) came together and pointed the final score to 233-8.  Andy Mash (6-18) ripped out Purbrook’s top four and with left-arm spinner Gregor McKenizie taking 3-14, the visitors were bowled out for 79 (Sean Figgins 29).
Brad Neal hit 80 as Basingstoke & North Hants II leapt back to the top of SPL3 with a convincing 59-run win over Alton at the Jubilee Ground.
Basingstoke piled up 254-7 – Chris Chandler weighing in with a pre-tea 41 not out and Joe Oates 35 - before bowling Alton out for 195 (Hugo Hammond 37), evergreen Keith Harris taking 3-19.
Teenager Archie Reynolds was the star of Waterlooville’s 54-run victory over Bashley (Rydal) II, hitting a league best 76 not out.
Tasmanian James Hortle (58), Jon Hudson (37) and Tim Jackson (31) compounded the agony as Ville’s 251-7 proved beyond reach of Bashley, who replied with 197-9 (Harry Anstee 42).
Gosport Borough pair Tom Larner (91) and Lee Harrop (89) featured in a 180-run opening partnership which put paid to any hopes Havant had of defending 219-7 (Cam Prentice 68) at Havant Park.
