White ball coloured clothing cricket could be introduced to ECB British Gas Southern Premier Division 50-over cricket next season.
That’s if a Management Committee recommendation is adopted by the ten Premier Division clubs at Thursday evening’s AGM.
If it gets the go-ahead, the SPL will be only the second Premier League in the country behind Yorkshire to play nine weeks of limited-over cricket at the beginning and end of the season using a white ball against black sightscreens.
White ball cricket using coloured pyjama kit and following the rules in A-list cricket would only be played in the top division.
Clubs are also being asked to agree to start 50-over games earlier at 12.30pm, instead of 1 o’clock as at present.
Half-hour earlier 12.30pm starts would apply across all four Southern Premier League divisions.
All day Time pennant games in the Premier Division would start at 11am, as opposed to 11.30, with lunch at 1.15pm.
Also on the agenda is a proposal to restrict individual bowlers to 18-overs each in all-day matches. There are currently no restrictions.
Clubs are also being asked to agree to the six Second XI sides in the SPL pyramid being able to field overseas players, under 23 years of age, next season.
The AGM on Thursday (7pm) is in the Richards Suite at the Ageas Bowl.
