Four Southern Premier League cricketers produced eye catching performances in the latest round of Minor Counties Championship matches played by Dorset and Wiltshire.
Bashley (Rydal) spin all-rounder Sam Thomson was probably man-of-the-match as Dorset beat Herefordshire by seven wickets at North Perrott. He made an unbeaten 63 alongside taking seven wickets in the match.
New Milton’s Tom Arnold (74) extended his good form and Bournemouth’s Chris Park made 50 as Dorset posted 307-7 to overhaul the visitors’ 259 all out (Thomson 4-66). Then, after Tom Barber had taken 4-40 and Thomson 3-33, Herefordshire were bowled out for 186, Arnold hit another 33 to help Dorset home.
South Wilts teen William Wade celebrated his Wiltshire Championship debut in some style with an unbeaten second innings 83 against Devon - but was unable to save his side from a 70-run defeat.
Trailing by 88 runs on first innings after being bowled out for 163 in reply to Devon's 251, Wiltshire were set 302 to win after the West Country side had made another 213. But apart from Jake Lintott (38), the Wiltshire batting fell apart around the patient 17-year old Wade, who hit six boundaries in a 190-ball stay at the crease. Wiltshire were bowled out for 231 in their second innings.
