Back in the Rowledge fold, Chris Yates played a pivotal top order role, scoring 71 and enjoying a healthy partnership with jake Wish (32) before David Lloyd’s timely 63 eased the Surrey county border club to 242-8, teenager Liam Carty taking 3-59 for the visitors.
Totton dipped to 76-4 (Sam Bracey 25) before being revived by Zimbabwean Gary Chirmuuta (54). Youngsters Sam Beer (27) and Leo Taylor (26) got a chance to show their prowess before stumps with T & E 183-8.
The win and being top of the log has put Rowledge in good heart ahead of Sunday’s testing Village Cup national first round tie against former Lord’s finalists Findon, who currently lie third in Sussex Premier League Division 3 West.
