Sporting colleagues from cricket, football and golf will be saying their farewell to popular Waterlooville sportsman Ian Megarry (82) at the Oaks Crematorium, Havant, on Thursday morning at 10am.
Mr Megarry was hugely involved in the town’s sport over many years, playing cricket for Waterlooville, alongside taking active roles in the Hants & Sussex Borderers’ West Country tours (which he continued to support long after his playing days were over) and the Truants’ midweek side. He played centre-half before taking up soccer management at Waterlooville. An active golfer, Ian was 1980 captain at Waterlooville Golf Club, where he will be fondly remembered at the wake.
Ian is pictured in the PetersVille team which beat the all-powerful Old Tauntonians in the 1967 County Ground Knockout final at Northlands Road.
