Southern Electric Premier Division clubs enjoyed their first taste of all-day ‘time’ cricket, with Andover, BAT Sports, Havant and Hungerford emerging victorious in run chases. The match between Bashley (Rydal) and Bournemouth ended in a high scoring draw.
Overseas duo Kennedy Otieno [left above], the Kenya opening batsman, and teenage West Australian Luke Ronchi [right] marked the occasion with undefeated hundreds.
Otieno chalked up his second century, hitting an unbeaten 114 as BAT Sports chased down South Wilts’ 175-9 Jamie Glasson 90*) to win by seven wickets, while Ronchi struck 109 not out as Bashley (Rydal) built on a solid start by Andy Sexton (83) and Neil Thurgood (59) to post 286-4 against Bournemouth at the BCG, where the visitors made 221-6 in reply, Dave Kidner hitting 86 and Mike Stonier 52.
Luke Sears (71*) and Paul Gover (52*) shared an unbroken century partnership as Havant comfortably overhauled Cove’s 179-7 (Ian Crompton 61), Richard Lewis taking 4-35.
Paul Hawkins, inventor of the Hawk-Eye ball tracking technology, showed he knew thing or two about batting by top scoring for Burridge in a losing cause against Andover. The former Buckinghamshire batsman made 95 before being run out at the end of Burridge’s 197-9 – a total Andover overhauled with Jeremy Hayward (57) and Tim Keighley (42) to the fore.
Former Chichester Priory Park batsman Jez Goode made 64* and Martin Kellaway 45 as Calmore Sports were dismissed for 215 (David Pryke 5-40). Hungerford won by four wickets, with Steve Wyatt (45*) improving the starts made by Jim Etteridge (39), Duncan Johnson (37) and Toby Radford (32).

Glyn Treagus 131 for Lymington
Tim Subnaik played the key role as Trojans ended Portsmouth’s four-match unbeaten start in Division 1, top scoring with 65 and then taking four wickets as the Stoneham side triumphed by 35 runs.
The influential Trinidadian all-rounder made crucial middle-order runs after Simon Williams (50) and Mario Mohammed (40) had pointed Trojans towards an eventual 221-6. Portsmouth were dismissed for 186, Subnaik taking 4-28.
Glyn Treagus was even more influential in Lymington’s emphatic 117-run victory over Alton, hitting an unbeaten 131 during a century stand with Ben Craft (50) and then weighing in with 4-17 as the Brewers went flat at 102 all out.
Dave Jackson (91*) and Paul Edwards (72) put together a stand of 134, but Hursley Park pulled up short as Winchester passed their 214-7 (Dave Greetham 4-46). Paul Marks (62), Raj Naik (39) and Jimmy Taylor (34) got WKS home by four wickets.
Max Smith (96) led the way as OTs & Romsey piled up 288-9 before bowling United Services out for 130, while Hambledon crushed Liphook & Ripsley by 99 runs. Aussie Dave Carson (73) and Simon James (52) led the Dons to 212-8 before Churcher’s College spinner Ed Saxel took 6-29.

Victorious Leckford
Mark Tomlinson produced a virtuoso one-man performance as Leckford swept to a five-wicket win over Division 3 rivals, Gosport Borough, the all-rounder following up a 6-38 return with the ball by hitting an unbeaten 65 as the Test Valley side successfully chased down 162 for victory.
Tim Richings (69*) and Jeremy Frith (52) guided leaders Sparsholt to a nine-wicket win over Rowledge (143, Chris Yates 50), while Old Basing bounced back from their first defeat (by St Cross Symondians in round five) with a crushing 111-run victory over winless Lymington II
Australian Lee Sorfleet hit 117 and enjoyed a 139-run opening stand with Sam Millar (58) as OB piled up 234-9.  Peter Tapper weighed in with 4-58 but then saw Lymington crash to 39-6 before being bowled out for 123.
St Cross Symondians failed to build on their surprise win over Old Basing and were bundled out for 100 by Waterlooville for whom the legendary Stan Rudder took 4-8. Aussie Paul Tomasi made 56 of the 100 the Ville needed to win.
Portsmouth were skittled for 57 (Glen Williams 4-13) and thumped by nine wickets by Hook & Newnham Basics, Steve Shaw plundering 44 of the runs they needed for a quick victory.
Purbrook recovered from 39-4 to make 138 (Graham McCoy 39, Alan Hellyer 32), but Bashley (for whom Dale Middleton took 4-29) managed only 87, low left-armer Mark Stanley taking 4-12.
Andy Birch (43) and Shaun Green (40) chased down the bulk of the runs as Easton & Martyr Worthy overhauled New Milton’s 142 (Steve Watts a classy 62), while Bradley Edwards hit 52 to lead Eastleigh home against OTs & Romsey II, who fell to 38-5 before making 103.  Wellow & Plaitford withdrew from the league, leaving SPL3 with 17 clubs.
