PictureSam Hillman needs a plan
Waterlooville skipper Sam Hillman is anticipating a sleepless night as he ponders how to stop Norwegian run gun Henry Glanfield in tomorrow’s Southern Premier League Cup East Division 2/3 derby at Ridge Meadow.
The unassuming Hambledon ace has already blazed 147 runs without being dismissed in this season’s two league cup matches, hitting an undefeated 112 against Gosport Borough before heavy rain brought a halt to his 35 not out at Hartley Wintney.
Glanfield is making up for lost time after missing all but three of Hambledon’s SPL3 games last summer with a broken ankle.
Hillman, with his frequent economical new-ball figures, will be backing himself to find a chink in Glanfield’s armour.
Hambledon: Le Clerq, Marshall, Glanfield, Pratt, Chakrabarti, Barnard, Willoughby, Oliver, Pearce, Hardman, Khan.
Portsmouth & Southsea completed an SPL3 double over Purbrook last season and will want to get their league cup challenge off to a positive start against local opposition at St James’s Park.
Portsmouth & Southsea: Davies, Benfield, Kanavan, Shahid, Briggs, White, Saunders, Peach, Wiley, Turrel, Dunstan.
Tichborne Park won their opening match against Purbrook, but are without skipper Martin Cheyney when they entertain Hartley Wintney.  As a cushion, brothers Will and Tom Allam are back for the hosts.
Tichborne Park: E Primmer, W Allam, T Allam, J Bristow, K Connell, S Newens, T Barnett, B Hole, J Wilks, A Gunner, M Bristow.
Hartley Wintney: W Kerr, A Brown, J Kerr, H Hammond, S Baldwin, J Mulvey, J Teale, D Nightingale, A Parson, M Teale, D Reynaldo.
