Sarisbury Athletic’s five teams will each observe a minute silence before tomorrow’s Southern Premier and Hampshire League games in respect of their club president Brian Knapp, who died yesterday.
Aged 84, Brian had been a lifelong member of Sarisbury, seeing the club progress from the lower regional divisions of the HCL to its establishment (from the historic Green) to nearby Allotment Road, where it achieved ECB Southern Premier status.
His involvement at Sarisbury spanned over 70 years, initially as a player, official, umpire (he was a founder member of the South Coast Panel) and later club president. A full tribute will appear shortly.
Beaten twice already Sarisbury Athletic host Calmore Sports at Allotment Road – with both sides in Venous Village Cup county semi-final action on Sunday, Sarisbury away at Bramshaw and Calmore home to Sparsholt.

Calmore Sports: Johns, Taylor, Moss, Johnson, Manning, Bailey, Lavelle, Perry, West, Wright, Lepervanche.

Portsmouth, at home to Totton & Eling, welcome president’s son Matt Shaw back from a spell at Waterlooville – and they’ll need his hefty run output to kick start a so far winless May.

New Milton are again unchanged, but like many grounds across the region, the Green Jackets is reportedly very soggy so it will be an early umpire’s call to see if their visit to St Cross Symondians II goes ahead.

Sparsholt, who have won their only game so far, host Basingstoke & North Hants at the Norman Edwards Ground.
