Sarisbury Athletic are through to the ECB national indoor sixes cricket championship finals at Lord’s for a fourth time.
They swept aside Cornish champions St Austell before beating Bournemouth in a high scoring Taunton regional final to clinch another visit to Lord’s on March 26.
National indoor champions two years ago, Sarisbury are paired against Norfolk Alliance League side Downham Town in the opening national semi-final.
If Sarisbury win, they will play either Broadstairs or Spondon, from Derbyshire, in the ECB final.
Sarisbury comfortably brushed aside St Austell by four wickets in the west region semi-final.
The Cornishmen had knocked out past Lord’s winners Exeter University in the qualifying round but could only manage 102-4 – a total Sarisbury breezed past, with Ricky Rawlins (28) and Sam Floyd (25) both unbeaten.
Martin Miller (42), Chris Park (33) and Robbie Pack (31) led the way as Bournemouth rattled up 127-4 in their semi-final against Cheltenham Civil Service.
The Gloucestershire side fell 24 runs short at 103-5, having been 69-1 at one stage.
Bournemouth’s bowlers were unable to keep Sarisbury’s rampant batsmen in check in the final, Sam Floyd smashing an unbeaten half-century as his side rocketed to 162-3.
Matt Journeaux (34), Pete Hammond (28) and Josh Hill (26) weighed in as Sarisbury put the final beyond Bournemouth’s reach.
Chris Park (58) hit back with a half-century of his own as Bournemouth replied with a creditable 131 all out (Miller 32).
