Sarisbury Athletic stormed into the ECB national indoor sixes championship regional play-offs with an impressive 34-run win over Swindon – a victory that sets up a zone semi-final test against St Austell at Taunton on Sunday week.
Ricky Rawlins (36 not out), Sam Floyd (25 not out), Matt Journeaux (23) and Peter Hammond all prospered with the bat as Sarisbury posted a competitive 132-4 in the Old Croft Leisure Centre.
Sarisbury’s slick fielding, which included a superb diving catch by Floyd, culminated in four run outs as Swindon mustered 98 all out, largely due to skipper Liam Tucker hitting 59.
Peter Hammond bowled a tidy 1-8 off his three overs.
St Austell knocked out three-time Lord’s finalists Exeter University (88-5) by six wickets and will join Bournemouth (drawn against Bridgwater or Cheltenham Civil Service) at Taunton.
