
St Cross Symondians batsman Jason Laney cracked his second consecutive century as Hampshire Seniors won the National 50-plus County Championship Second XI Plate with an 18-run win over Somerset in the final at North Perrott.
The former Hampshire opener, who made 100 on debut against Buckinghamshire last month, hit 144 (17 fours) of the Seniors' 285-6 and shared a significant partnership with Jim Stokes-Edwards (62) after three wickets had fallen for 12 runs, including Andy Giles run out for 27.
The pair put on 97, with Laney batting almost to the end of the Hampshire innings.
Sparsholt paceman Rae Lockyer accounted for both openers before Mike Hanniford (78) and Clive Hamblin (57*) took them close. Andover's Stuart Summers took 3-46, but Hampshire conceded 2=31 wides. Somerset closed 267-7.
