The Hampshire Seniors' season is almost over without a ball being bowled following the cancellation of the two of the National County Championships due to the on-going Covid-19 pandemic.
The 70s competition was called off a month or more ago; now the popular Sixties championships have been shelved as well.
Hampshire were due to have competed in a potentially challenging south-east 60s group this season, with Kent, Middlesex, Surrey and Sussex joining Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire in a powerful looking eight-county division. Sarisbury Athletic were due to have hosted Hampshire's games.
The ECB have yet to make a decision about the 50-plus County Championships, but with recreational cricket suspended for the time being, it is looking increasingly unlikely there will be any matches, unless an end-season knockout competition is organised. Watch this space !
