Hambledon continued their relentless charge towards the Southern Premier Division 3 title with a sixth successive win of the season.
This time it was Portsmouth & Southsea who were on the end of a defeat at Ridge Meadow, going down by 107 runs.
Hambledon's perfect start to the season has put them in a strong position, leading Hook & Newnham Basics II by 23 points at the summit.
Opener Dan McGovern (left), who moved into the area from Northamptonshire pre-season, helped set up the table-toppers' victory with a fine 74 before playing a starring role with the ball.
Even without the talismanic Henry Glanfield (isolating), Hambledon posted 194-5 off their 40 overs and Portsmouth & Southsea were unable to get near it, being dismissed for 87.
Teenager James Restell went for just four runs from his seven overs, picking up two wickets, to put the squeeze on Portsmouth before McGovern weighed in with 3-13 as the visitors were all out for 87 in reply.
P & S enjoyed relatively early success when Matt Benfield caught opener George Marshall (23) off the bowling of Jonathan Willey. Then at 54-2, sibling brother James Marshall was bowled by James Peach.
But McGovern shared a third-wicket stand of 87 with Chris Pratt (46) to get Hambledon back on track and up to a competitive total. Left-arm spinner Keiron Dunstan removed both McGovern and Pratt, finishing with figures of 3-36.
Portsmouth's chase never get off the ground, with none of the top four managing to reach double figures.
Openers Mat Benfield (nine) and Ollie Kanavan (three) along with Tom Benfield (two) and Jack Davies (four) all fell in quick succession to leave them reeling at 20-4. Tailender Peach (21) was the only batsman to offer any real resistance as Portsmouth were dismissed for 87 in 30.2 overs.
Hook & Newnham Basics seconds continue to thrive – a thumping eight-wicket victory at Gosport Borough cementing Kevin Light’s side in second place behind unbeaten leaders Hambledon.
Dan Moore (3-11) and later 56 not out shone as Gosport were pegged to 127-9 - Jack Murrell (3-31) taking the first three Borough scalps.
Harry Warner (46) continued his return to form and shared a century partnership with Moore as Hook cantered home with 15 overs to spare.
Purbrook remain rooted to the bottom of Division 3 and still without a win this season. They were on the end of a crushing 157-run defeat to third placed Langley Manor to leave them in real trouble.
Opener Graham Noble crashed three sixes and 13 fours in a superb 130 – his first century since June 2015 when he hit 146 at Paultons - while his partner Jack Budd made 85 (12 fours).
They shared a 161-run opening stand as Langley amassed a massive 269-4. Purbrook were all out for 112 (Josh McCoy 39) with Craig Renders taking 3-16.
Also in the mire are Tichborne Park, dismissed for 76 (Jamie Donaldson 5-35) and beaten by eight wickets by Trojans, who are now virtually safe.
Basingstoke & North Hants seconds rattled up 252 before easing their relegation concerns by bowling Hythe & Dibden out for 138 and achieving a comfortable 114-run win.
With the Watersiders also in the bottom four, it was an important ‘six pointer’ win for the Bountymen, who were always in control at Jones Lane.
A useful second-wicket partnership between Laurence Benge (44) and Scott Dyer (42) cemented Basingstoke’s position and, although there was a slight wobble after the pair had fallen to Hampshire Under-14s spinner Ben Holbrook (3-46), Neil Shelar (35) and Steve Bucksey (30) reasserted the visitors’ position. A few clouts by Tom Dyer (26) saw Basingstoke to 252 before Wayne Royan (3-38) ended the innings.
A triple blow by Ryan Connor (3-36) had Hythe rocking at 25-3 before Shelar (2-19) struck twice.
Matt Young (37) did his best to keep Hythe afloat , but with Keith Harris (3-22) and Tom Dyer (2-16) taking the last five wickets, the host club fell away to 138 all out.
