Southern Premier League Division 2 champions Waterlooville crashed to an all-time low 50 all out as a strengthened Hook & Newnham Basics second team inflicted a crushing seven-wicket defeat on them at Rowlands Avenue.
They still finished 18 points clear of Old Tauntonians & Romsey - who also lost, as did third placed Lanley Manor - but Hook, despite a fourth straight win, were relegated by a mere two points.
Hook sent Josh Buckingham and Aniket Divecha south - the latter ripping through Ville's middle-order having taken the ball in the 12th over with the tottering champs already 10-3, the promising Oli Webster (2-10) striking twice.
Divecha [pictured] dismissed top scorer Haydn Knight (with 11 the only batter in double figures) and John Hudson (duck) as three wickets fell for two runs and Waterlooville slumped to 27-6.
Divecha finished with 5-11 as Waterlooville crashed their lowest Premier League score.
Joe Mitchell (2-10) bagged a consolation bowling bonus point for the Ville as Hook slipped to 20-3, but Buckingham smacked four boundaries in an unbeaten 23 which, with Webster unbeaten at the other end, eased the visitors across the line. Winning four late games and getting so close to survival was a commendable effort by Hook.
