Experienced Eastern Province right-arm seamer Basheer Walters had been earmarked as Havant’s overseas player in the ECB Southern Premier League this season.
The 33-year old from Port Elizabeth has taken over 500 wickets for EP and the Warriors franchise side in South African first class cricket and took 5-29 in his most recent List A appearance against Western Province at St George’s Park.
Walters, who played South Yorkshire League cricket for Cleethorpes last season, would have made his Havant debut against promoted Division 1 champions Hook & Newnham Basics on Saturday, but for the postponement of all recreational cricket in the country due to the coronavirus pandemic.
