South Wilts have surrendered their Wiltshire county indoor sixes crown after a three-wicket defeat by Burbage & Easton Royal in ‘matchbox’ surroundings at The Croft, Swindon.
They began finals day in a confident manner, restricting Chippenham to 65-4 (Brad Dawson 33*) and polished off the runs for the loss of one wicket, with Rob Pittman (26) and Joe Cranch (22) to the fore.
But in such confined space – hitting boundaries and running three’s is a testing exercise – South Wilts managed to score only 70-4 themselves in the final, with Cranch (21) the only batsman in double figures. Burbage won by three wickets with an over to spare.
