South Wilts Under 13 Girls are through to the finals of the ECB’s prestigious Lady Taverners’ Cup at Neston (Cheshire) next week after an impressive 7-wicket victory over their Newport (South Wales) in the South West Regional Final at Bemerton.
They dismissed the Welsh girls for 44, with Lucy Nash (2-8) and Poppy Walker (2-12) sharing four of the wickets, and polished off the target in 11 overs, with Walker taking her competition run aggregate to 141 in six knocks for just once out.
They Bemerton youngsters will be looking to emulate the Under-15 Boys’ side’s achievements of 1990 by becoming national champions.
