28/12/2015

South Wilts will launch their bid for a remarkable fifth straight ECB Southern Premier League championship title against Ventnor at Newclose – a notoriously wet early season venue - on May 7.
Their first home match at Bemerton seven days later is against the Hampshire Academy, while the often key games with Havant mark the start of all-day ‘time’ cricket on June 4 and the return of 50-over pennant matches on August 6.
There are two New Forest derby matches in the opening fortnight of the season, with Bashley (Rydal) hosting Lymington on May 7 and newly promoted New Milton – hosts to St Cross Symondians for the curtain raiser – going to the Sports Ground in round two.
The other opening day games involve Alton against Havant, and Burridge entertaining the Academy.
The Southern Premier League season begins on May 7 and ends on September 3 2016.
Relegated Sarisbury Athletic begin life back in Division 1 at Basingstoke & North Hants, with Portsmouth hosting Damian Shirazi’s Totton & Eling and OTs & Romsey going to Bournemouth.
The big North Hants derbies between Basingstoke and Hook & Newnham Basics, which could be significant, take place at May’s Bounty on July 2 and at the KGV Ground on September 3, the final day of the season.
Division 3 champions South Wilts II host relegated Hartley Wintney in their SPL2 debut, with Calmore Sports facing Fawley in an A36 derby, and Sparsholt taking on close rivals Tichborne Park.
Hampshire League winners Fair Oak begin by hosting Havant II, Ryde start at home to Basingstoke & North Hants II, while relegated pair Langley Manor and Hursley Park meet at Knellers Lane.
