South Wilts can be justly proud of their outstanding record in producing home grown talent.
James Hibberd’s side which beat Lymington and went to the top of the British Gas Southern Premier League contained no less than EIGHT home grown players and was the youngest first team ever fielded, beating the previous record – set up a week earlier !
The average age of the side was just over 22, with Jack Mynott being the third eldest behind skipper James Hibberd (36) and James Hayward (30).
Of the winning side at Lymington, only Hibberd, Luke Evans and Ryan Murray were not locally cultivated cricketers.
South Wilts fielded four sides in Premier and Hampshire League cricket last weekend and 33 of the 44 players on parade were Bemerton raised.
