South Wilts stalwart Rob Wade has been recognised for his eight consecutive years as Director of Cricket at the Bemerton club.
He received a standing ovation at the recent SWCC junior players’ awards function when he received an engraved trophy from Stuart Nash (left) and Russell Rowe (right), who have succeeded Wade in the juniors’ role.
Rowe, who played alongside the former South Wilts captain and all-rounder on many occasions, praised Wade for “his organisational skills, selfless devotion and commitment, evidenced by the number of juniors who rose through the ranks during his tenure.”
All three of Wade’s cricketing sons, William, James and Edward are among those who have progressed into senior Bemerton cricket.
