Heavyweights Havant and South Wilts have avoided playing each other in the forthcoming Southern Electric twenty20 Cup semi-finals – but both clubs have significant hurdles to navigate before they can contemplate playing in next month’s Ageas Bowl floodlight final.
The semi-final draw has paired Havant with either Bashley (Rydal) or St Cross Symondians, who play their delayed third round tie on Sunday July 26.
This is unchartered territory for St Cross Symondians, who have never reached the last eight before.
But if Bashley win, it will create a repeat of that epic tied 2012 Ageas Bowl final against Havant which was decided in a Super Over, with Richard Morris hitting the winning runs.
Havant will host either Bashley or St Cross Symondians at Havant Park on Sunday August 2.
The other semi-final pairing remains an ‘either or’ – until this Sunday teatime, at any rate.
The Hampshire Academy meet Sarisbury Athletic on the Nursery Ground (2pm start), with the winners drawn at home to South Wilts on Sunday July 26.
The final is under the Ageas Bowl floodlights on Tuesday August 18.
