SOUTHERN PREMIER/HAMPSHIRE LEAGUE STRUCTURE : 2019

2/12/2018

The Southern Premier and Hampshire Leagues have announced the divisional make-up of their respective competitions for the 2019 season, the SPL programme to begin on May 4 and the HCL a week later, on May 11.
Relegated in 2013, Bournemouth are back in the ECB Southern Premier Division for the first time in five years and replace New Milton. The competition will continue in its mixed format of 50-over ‘white ball’ cricket and ‘time’ games played in mid-summer.
SPL2 champions Sparsholt and runners-up Rowledge join New Milton as newcomers in Division 1, where ‘red ball’ matches are played on a 50-over basis, as in SPL2 and 3.
Lord’s National Village Cup finalists Liphook & Ripsley join three Premier Division second teams in Division 2, while County Division 1 champions Hythe & Dibden and third-placed Fareham & Crofton are newcomers in SPL3, where they will face relegated duo Tichborne Park and Trojans.  CD1 runners-up Parley do not, at present, meet SPL accreditation requirements and were not eligible for promotion.
Whereas the Premier League divisions each comprise ten teams playing each other on a home and away basis, the Hampshire League continues with 18 teams in each division.
County 2 champions Bedhampton are among five fresh faces in CD1, alongside Sway who have climbed their way up from the regional leagues and are celebrating a second promotion in three years.
