Sparsholt are 30 points clear at the Southern Premier League Division 2 summit after defeating Rowledge and Waterlooville, their closest rivals, in the past fortnight.
But skipper Jeremy Frith wants no let up and is anxious his side, fresh from ten straight wins, pushes on from its position of strength.
Speaking on the eve of Langley Manor’s visit to the Norman Edwards Ground, Frith (lft) said: “The guys have done fantastically well and, as you might imagine, the dressing room is a happy place.
“But we want to get ourselves into an unassailable position points-wise and need to be conscious that Langley Manor have potential match winners like Conor Browne and Steve Harris in their side.
Sparsholt: Frith, Haworth, Mitchard, Doran, O’Brien, Banks, Doubell, Weir, Phagami, Thornton, Taylor.
Rowledge and Waterlooville, the side immediately beneath Sparsholt in second and third places, collide at Church Road.
Rowledge enjoy an 11-point lead over their rivals, but take the field minus skipper Ben Wish and opening batsman Chris Yates. Ricky Yates and promising teenager Max Martin step up.
Rowledge: Ricky Yates, Jake Wish, Sam Plater, David Lloyd, Fraser Wilson, Max Martin, Steve Martin, George Keeley, Ollie Baker, Joel Swan, Richard Forbes.
Bottom side Trojans, 21 points adrift at the SPL2 basement, host fourth placed St Cross Symondians II, while relegation rivals Totton & Eling and Paultons meet in a ‘six pointer’ derby at Southern Gardens.
Paultons hauled themselves out of the immediate drop zone with a thrilling two-run win over Basingstoke & North Hants last weekend and stand ten points above Totton.
Skittled for a meagre 84 by Rowledge last week, Tichborne Park need a vastly improved batting display at May’s Bounty if they are to pull out of the trouble zone.
