Relegated New Milton lie bottom of Southern Premier League Division 1 after suffering a third straight defeat – by 42 runs – against a Sparsholt side, who they had struggling at 39-5 at one stage at Fernhill.
But last season’s SPL2 champions recovered to post 150 (Ryan Beck 3-34) , mainly on the strength of determined knocks by Sam O’Brien (40) and Liam Doran (31).
Set a weather revised target of 131 off 38 overs, New Milton’s reply followed a similar pattern with half the side back in the pavilion for 43 against the new ball bowling of Oli Perrin (3-32) and Michael Haworth (2-25).
Ryan Beck (20) and James Haggaty (22) did their bit for the Green & Yellows, who were eventually dismissed for 89, Jeremy Frith taking 3-13.
