Evergreen Bashley (Rydal) cricketer Neil Taylor is delighted that clubs will soon be able to properly open their bars – because he’s got an enormous celebration planned !
Taylor is only four victims shy of taking 1,000 wickets in competitive cricket – and he’s hoping Bashley seconds’ new captain Sean Read will toss him the ball tomorrow so he can edge a bit closer to that milestone.
Bashey host Fawley at the BCG, played only half a Southern Premier Division 2 match (against South Wilts II) so far – and that was on May 1 when the game was washed out at tea.
Alongside gloveman Chris Gates, Taylor is the wise head in a pretty youthful Bashley side, while Fawley’s key all-rounder Sufian Munir remains marooned in India, unable to fly back to the UK for the time being.
Bashley (Rydal) II: Tom O’Sullivan, Ryan Taylor, Phil Morris, James Underwood, Saif Achakzai , Sean Mulley, Tom Penycate, Neil Taylor, Ethan Baker, Chris Gates, Sean Read.
Paultons are boosted by the return of Josh Metcalfe and the hard hitting Nigel Feltham, but are missing Tony Richman for Liphook & Ripsley’s visit to Whitemoor Lane.
Paultons: Simon Ennew, Josh Metcalfe, Cameron Grierson, Lee Wateridge, Ben Rogers, Nathan Feltham, Robert Pike, Peter Lamb, Archie Dunn, Andrew Denney, Harmon Chadhoke.
Owain Phillips makes his first appearance of the season for South Wilts II at Hartley Wintney, who are without round 1 ‘Cricketer of the Week’ award winner Angus Brown, who is gap year teaching in Edinburgh.
South Wilts II: Cranch, Litchfield, Pearce, Edwards, Rob Pittman, Falconer, Phillips, Sam Pittman, Partridge, Atkinson, Brewer.
Waterloville play at home for the first time when Ventnor cross the high seas to visit Rowlands Avenue – Ville having won their SPL2 opener at Fawley.
Waterlooville: Archie Reynolds, Alex Shephard, Namish Verma, Sonny Reynolds, Jon Hudson, Dan Birch, Tim Jackson, Sam Robinson, Ashan Silva, Harry McBride, Jack Pearce.
Ventnor: B. Woodhouse, R. Whyte, M. Fletcher, R. Snell, G. Legg, C. Read, C. Calloway, Zach Wells, C. Turpin, A. Lloyd, M. Flood.
OTs & Romsey and Fair Oak, who both won their opening games, meet at Romsey.
